January 8th Grade Update

8th-grade students are getting back on track after enjoying two weeks off for the holidays. Language Arts classes are finishing their poetry unit with an emphasis on courage, and will write an expository essay on someone they view as a hero as their final project. The Language Arts Accelerated class has been examining poems along with fiction and nonfiction articles and stories that focus on the environment. They're finalizing their choice board activities and will conclude their unit with a final reflective piece of writing.
8th grade is continuing their weekly sustained silent reading program and was able to purchase more books to add to the class library with a Tiger Grant that Mrs. Rowen received. This provides students with a larger selection of books to choose from.
Finally, the 8th-grade team is planning its second-quarter reward, which will take place later this month. This recognizes all the 8th-grade students who worked hard to meet the goals and expectations set forth by the team.
