January 6th Grade Update

Science: We just finished our cell projects in class, and what a great variety we saw! From coding robots to murals, poems, stories, coloring books, models, games, and window designs, students did a phenomenal job showing their understanding of cell organelles and their functions. Presenting these projects was a great way to review content, celebrate learning, and showcase talent. We're so proud of our students!

Math: We're entering the "meat" of our year. Over the next two months, we'll be learning about algebra—expressions, equations, and inequalities, oh my! This can be a challenging section for some 6th graders, but with persistence, they can definitely succeed. In honors math, we've entered the 7th-grade curriculum. The first two chapters can be very challenging, but again, they can do it!
ELA: We rang in the new year by writing 5-paragraph essays about our New Year's resolutions. Students set personal and academic goals, such as working on fitness and athleticism, learning a new language, studying for tests, raising IXL scores, and keeping all their Professionalism Points. They also set relationship goals—many plan on helping out around the house, getting along with siblings, walking their dogs, training their cats to do tricks, and spending more time with grandparents. I enjoyed reading their essays, and I hope this new year brings out the best in all of us!
