October 7th Grade Update

History
We're covering the fall of the Roman Empire and starting a research paper on Feudalism. We'll wrap up the month with the history of Halloween.
Science (Mr. Sellers)
We're beginning our ecosystems and biomes chapter. Students will work in groups to explore different biomes and their unique characteristics.
Science (Mrs. LaCrosse)
Students have been working with thermal and electrical energy. Our latest project involved wiring models for a lunar base, complete with lights, buzzers, motors, and switches. After circuits, we'll move into waves.
Language Arts
We're finishing the novel ReStart by Gordon Korman. As Halloween approaches, we'll read some spooky stories to celebrate.
Math
Chapters 3 and 4 cover integers and rational numbers. Students will learn integer rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing—critical foundation skills for next year's math. We'll also work with rational numbers: converting to decimals, comparing them, and performing operations with like and unlike denominators.
